Why I Write Microfiction | Ep 40
Manage episode 416962393 series 2879875
In this episode, I discuss why I write microfiction, which are very short stories under 300 words. I explain that microfiction is easier for me to start writing since it doesn't require as much time commitment. It also allows me to get in more writing practice by completing many small pieces rather than fewer longer works. Finishing these bite-sized stories provides a sense of accomplishment and reinforces my identity as a writer. Microfiction forces me to be precise with my words and sentence structure, good training for more immersive longer fiction later. It's a low-stakes way for me to experiment with different storytelling styles and forms. Overall, the low barrier to entry of microfiction helps me build a consistent writing habit without putting too much pressure on myself when starting out. It's an approachable way for me to capture story ideas and ease into more intensive writing down the road.
