On this episode of Advances in Care , host Erin Welsh and Dr. Craig Smith, Chair of the Department of Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian and Columbia discuss the highlights of Dr. Smith’s 40+ year career as a cardiac surgeon and how the culture of Columbia has been a catalyst for innovation in cardiac care. Dr. Smith describes the excitement of helping to pioneer the institution’s heart transplant program in the 1980s, when it was just one of only three hospitals in the country practicing heart transplantation. Dr. Smith also explains how a unique collaboration with Columbia’s cardiology team led to the first of several groundbreaking trials, called PARTNER (Placement of AoRTic TraNscatheteR Valve), which paved the way for a monumental treatment for aortic stenosis — the most common heart valve disease that is lethal if left untreated. During the trial, Dr. Smith worked closely with Dr. Martin B. Leon, Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Chief Innovation Officer and the Director of the Cardiovascular Data Science Center for the Division of Cardiology. Their findings elevated TAVR, or transcatheter aortic valve replacement, to eventually become the gold-standard for aortic stenosis patients at all levels of illness severity and surgical risk. Today, an experienced team of specialists at Columbia treat TAVR patients with a combination of advancements including advanced replacement valve materials, three-dimensional and ECG imaging, and a personalized approach to cardiac care. Finally, Dr. Smith shares his thoughts on new frontiers of cardiac surgery, like the challenge of repairing the mitral and tricuspid valves, and the promising application of robotic surgery for complex, high-risk operations. He reflects on life after he retires from operating, and shares his observations of how NewYork-Presbyterian and Columbia have evolved in the decades since he began his residency. Talking all things Bon Jovi with fellow fan, James. Speaking about the past, present and future of the band. What we love about the band and what we would like to change and much more...
Due to popular demand, myself & Mitch recorded another podcast for you all. We have so much Bon Jovi to talk about that we just didn't get enough in for the first podcast and decided to chat about b-sides & demos in this podcast. Who knows, maybe we will do a part 3?
Always wanted Dominik on the channel so it was a great surprise when I got a message from him on the JoviTalk forum. Dominik has, in my opinion, THE best YouTube channel along with Damned TV. We speak about how he started the channel, why he has kept it going and some rare shows that we are yet to get. We also speak about the shows Dominik has attended. Please like and subscribe.…
Just a little teaser for you all. I haven't uploaded the podcast with Dominik (hAnD90) just yet but we done a quiz and I want you to tell me your answers too. I hope you enjoy.
Ville wanted to come on the podcast to discuss bootlegs, his favs shows & Jon's vocals. JoviTalk the forum is where I started seeing Ville discuss Jon's vocals and he is quite vocal (pun intended) about the downfall of Jon's vocals. Don't forget to subscribe & like!
You will always remember the first podcast with Adam! He changes the lyrics to Bon Jovi songs and it's HILARIOUS! I mean, most of the podcast isn't even about Bon Jovi. We just go off on one... Mainly Adam... but that's why I enjoy the podcasts so much with him! Subscribe, like and enjoy!!
It's no secret to a lot of you that for a long time on Twitter, myself & Jerry didn't see eye to eye. The reason being, we are both such different fans. As time has gone on and things have changed in the world recently, it's actually made me and Jerry become quite good friends recently. Both had personal issues at home and whatever else and decided to put things to one side, unblock each other and we recorded a podcast. This is something I wanted for a long time. I always knew I didn't want to argue with Jerry on here, the same way I don't with anyone who comes on. The problem with Twitter, you can't get your opinion across properly. Limited characters, it can come across the wrong way and just overall, it's not very good. I wanted to do the podcast with Jerry for the reason stated above, we are so different. I am quite critical whereas Jerry praises the band. Who is the right fan? None of us. It's just an opinion and I think that this podcast shown that. We had a lot of fun, we spoke about a lot of topics and it's something I hope we can do again in the near future. Thank you for coming on, Jerry. Enjoy guys!…
Here is the latest Bon Jovi Talk Podcast. This podcast was with Angelo from the rock band, Collateral. Collateral got to play on the Jon Bon Jovi Runaway To Paradise Cruise and was also support for Phil X's UK Tour. Angelo is a HUGE Bon Jovi fan so it was great to get insight from someone who is such a big fan of the band but also had to remain professional. We had a great chat about our favourite band and we shared some good stories.…
This is the first podcast with me & Andy for a few months. We planned to do a face to face one in February but things got in the way and then with what's going on in the world, we decided to do one over Skype again. It's always great to chat to Andy who is a very good friend of mine. We spoke about 2020, no tour & Limitless. This podcast was recorded around midnight so we apologise for not being as crazy as usual! Enjoy.…
Me & Joseph have been chatting for the last 10 years or so after following Bon Jovi set lists and such on the JoviTalk Forum so it was good to get him on the podcast. We are a similar age and have seen similar shows so our chat was in detail about the same shows we have seen. We also discussed the new album coming out later this year.…
It was incredible to have Mitch on. Over the past few months, I have seen Mitch post a lot about 80's Bon Jovi and always thought he may have been a fan of the older stuff but it turns out to be the other way round. Mitch's knowledge on the band is incredible and he shares a catalogue of music from the band like most of us. He told me one of the best stories I have heard at a Bon Jovi show so make sure you give it a listen.…
Ollie is a very good friend of mine and we have attended multiple Bon Jovi shows together. He has seen the band over 40 times since 2003 and has got to see some of the best shows in recent times. This was our first ever sit down chat about our favourite band so it was good to hear Ollie talk so positively about the band.…
I actually recorded this is December 2019 but I have only just got round to publishing it. This was a lot of fun to do and I think some of these questions may have been too hard... or Brian just had a really off day? Haha. Give it a listen and send me your scores over. Good luck!
This is the first lyrics quiz. I used to play this game a while back with a friend. We say a lyric of a song and we have to guess what song it ois from just from that one line of the song. James is the first guest to try this. Give it a go and send me your scores across.
This was an interesting podcast. I had never spoke to anyone who was part of a tribute band and it was great to have Jason on as they are the ONLY affiliated Bon Jovi Tribute Band out there. Slippery When Wet have been going for 16 years and in 2019, they got invited to be on the Runaway With Jon Bon Jovi Cruises to perform some shows. Fans loved them as not only did they put on a good show but they also performed songs that Bon Jovi have never performed before which the die-hards really want to hear. Please subscribe, like and enjoy!…
It was an honour to have Matt on the Bon Jovi Talk Podcast. Matt was brought in after Bobby Bandiera departed for whatever reason and done a short stint with the band. For me, I really enjoyed his time with the band. It brought out the best in Phil X, in my opinion. Matt speaks to me about how he had to do an audition to be in the band, what it done for his career and how he still keeps in touch with some of the band…
