Akka Mahadevi was a saint and famous female poet who was part of the Veerashaiva Bhakti movement of the 12th century. She wrote poetry in the Kannada language and her life serves as an example of devotion and surrender. The story of Akka Mahadevi is taken from the book “Great Saints of South India” by author Sri Ravinuthala Sreeramulu. It is our hope that his life and teachings can be a guide for your daily life.
