Greek tragedy is one of the earliest and most influential forms of theatre, and no discussion of Western classics could be complete without looking at one (at least!) of the extant plays from the 3 great Athenian playwrights - Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. This week, listen to a discussion of the Oresteia, by Aeschylus, which depicts the demise of Agamemnon when he returns from the Trojan War and the conflict brought about for his son, Orestes. (Note: you can read the full play here, on Project Gutenberg, translated by E.D.A. Morshead.)
