Taubman clearly didn’t just stumble upon her muse. She channels her earliest influences—the classic country of Patsy Cline, the great gospel of Mavis Staples, The Staple Singers, and Mahalia Jackson, and the contemporary folk largess as filtered through Joni Mitchell.
