We have quite a range of subject matter on this episode of the Arete podcast. Tony Eyres was our esteemed guest: a man just as comfortable in the boardroom as he is out on the farm. Tony is director of his own company, Rounding Up, which helps deliver growth for Australia’s food and agribusiness sector from independent farmers to big corporates. He is also a non-executive director of an Atech startup (Davron Global) and sits on a range of other boards. Tony was very insightful about the difference between exec and non-exec directorship roles, as well as the macro issues of climate change and how the agriculture industry across the world should change its stance to be more sustainable. In this episode you will learn: -How Australian agriculture is changing the way it raises funding -The science of sustainability -How Tony stepped away from CEO roles and found fulfilment elsewhere as a non-exec -The difference between and interim exec and a longer term arrangement -The market value of non-executive versus executive directorships -How a non-exec should hold a CEO to account -What boards should think about when they hire board members -The future viability of the agriculture industry in Australia -The importance of soil carbon to the environment -How to turn the threat of climate change into a commercial opportunity -Is there enough capital being invested in Australian agriculture? -The definition of ‘risk’ in an agricultural context -How recent world events have accelerated trends in agriculture Tony Eyres on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tonyeyres/ Rounding Up Website: https://rounding-up.com/ Richard Triggs on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richardtriggs/
