Asian Handicap is a popular betting type in football that originates from Indonesia. It works similarly with puck lines in hockey or run lines in baseball. It’s a great option that offers a winning chance for the weaker team and removes the “draw” option. This provides an advantage to the underdog team.
Asian Handicap works quite differently from traditional football betting, and their appearance also looks different. For example, a game between Barcelona and Real Madrid will look like this on regular betting markets:

  • Barcelona: 2.40
  • Real Madrid: 2.40
  • Draw: 2.90

Take out the raw and the odds will look like this:

  • Barcelona: -0.0 with odds of 1.90
  • Real Madrid: +0.0 with odds of 1.90

A game with 0 Asian handicaps shows that the match has two teams that are evenly matched. You win the bet if your chosen team wins the game. As Asian Handicap excludes the draw, you’ll get a refund once a match ends in a tie.
It may seem overwhelming at first, but Asian Handicap is an excellent way to minimize your risk once you understand the market. As the conventional market gives you a 30:70 winning odds, the Asian Handicap can offer a 50:50 winning chance. You can find the Asian Handicap on almost every bookie and use them to bet on the most popular championships like the La Liga and the Premier League.
