Gone are the days of heavy words and melancholy filled Shakespeare poetry. It's the time of relatability and rebellion. Poetry in the present day and age, for us millennials, is a way of expression. A lot of us are independent, often lonely, facing an identity crisis, and are still getting used to life as an adult. Many times, the emotions faced are inexpressible in regular conversation but when weaved into poetry, it is our version of putting things out in the world in a way that our heart is on our sleeve and poured out, we are relatable and at the same time, it is not too much personal information going out.
It
was World Poetry Day on 21st March and to mark that, we invited fellow millennial and 'baby adult' Rabia Kapoor- she is a spoken word poet, a writer, an editor of a magazine named 'Spacebar' and freshly back in the city from London where she was studying.
Ayushi, Rytasha & Rabia chat about life in general, life in poetry, how does it feel to be back in the city and home after having stayed alone for a long time, and in this pandemic situation; about social media, the general attitude of the people towards youngsters and much more.
Tune in for some sisterhood and solidarity :)
