St. Louis de Montfort’s Hymns on the Sorrowful Passion A quick note about the hour. In the Christian Tradition, Jesus breathes His last on The Cross at 3 PM on Good Friday. That is the ninth hour of the day. 3PM is often reflected upon. What many Christians do not reflect upon as often are the other hours. When scripture speaks of the Passion of the Lord, and its events, they are spoken about in a liturgical way. The Lord is led forth at the 3rd hour (9:00 AM), nailed to The Cross at the 6th hour (noon) and dies at the ninth hour (3PM). These are all the traditional hours of prayer. The Church prays at these hours as Jesus completes our prayer with His self-giving. Listen more to the Homily. St. Louis’ Hymns on the Events of the Passion Praying the Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion. This audio does not pray the stations as one is normally accustomed to praying. However, the media engages the stations. One of the treasures St. Louis de Montfort left the Church are a collection of Hymns. Among these hymns is a mediation in song of the events of the Passion. One for every day of the week. With an eighth hymn dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows at the foot of The Cross. The hymns will be read in excerpts. If you have the Hymns book, which we encourage each Queen of All Hearts members to obtain, they are Hymns #67 through #74. Hear more in the Conference.
