In the Eucharist, We Become the Body of Christ The Gospel continues with the teaching on the Bread of Life. The Eucharist is central to the Church. The Eucharist enables the Church. The Church enables the Eucharist. Without the Church, there is no Eucharist. Without the Eucharist, there is no Church. This is why the Church dedicates five consecutive weeks (Sundays) on the Bread of Life. In the First Reading God hears the cry of His people. He releases them from their bondage. Moses leads His people to take them out of Egypt. The people cried again when they reached the Red Sea. The army of Egypt were coming closer. The people thought they would die. They called out to God and He again rescued them. Moses parted the waters of the Red Sea and God saved His people. A few days into the dessert, the provisions they carried were coming to an end. The people grumbled, longing for the times they were able to eat and drink . . . when they were slaves. They forgot God so soon after God rescued them. There is a lesson for us all. Humans often prefer the oppression of slavery, rather than the freedom given to us by God. God gives them bread from heaven. In the Gospel we hear several lessons. The homily gives us several lessons about Grace from these teachings. Jesus becomes the Bread of Life. In the Eucharist, the bread is consecrated and becomes Jesus Himself. We must wake up every morning and look for. . . Jesus, the Grace of God. Hear more within this Meditation Media.
