The Yahara 2070 scenarios depict fictional yet plausible futures for water and people in Wisconsin’s Yahara Watershed. Each scenario explores a different way people could address challenges to water sustainability and what the outcomes of those paths could be. They are not predictions, but explorations of the question “what if?” One goal of Yahara 2070 was to discover new insights into how to build resilience for the watershed and similar regions around the Upper Midwest. Another goal was to help us imagine possible futures and think about what would be desirable. The scenarios were part of the Water Sustainability and Climate Project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which was funded by the National Science Foundation. Learn more at yahara2070.org.
