31:05Vicki Sokolik refuses to be an Ostrich. Her son brought to her attention the crisis of unhoused youth — youth unhoused, not living with a parent/guardian, and not in foster care — in America, and she has been fighting to support this vulnerable population every since. Most active in Tampa Bay, Florida, Vicki is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit Starting Right, Now, which removes barriers for unaccompanied homeless youth to cultivate long-term well-being and self-sufficiency. She is also the author of the new book, “If You See Them: Young, Unhoused, and Alone in America.” Vicki Sokolik joined host Jay Ruderman to discuss the many ways unhoused youth fall through the cracks in our society, how her organization helps them, and also how to build trust with people who could use your help. No Monster Club’s Bobby Aherne joins Alan and Jeanne to dissect 2005’s Recipe For A Perfect Christmas, the heartwarming tale of a food writer who gets her big break and sets her lonely mother up with a desperate chef in order to stop them both from annoying her. Recipe For A Perfect Christmas was written by Rachel Feldman and Susan Nanus, directed by Sheldon Larry, and stars Carly Pope from Popular, Bobby Canavale, and immaculate queen of us all Christine Baranski. Instead it's a heartwarming tale of an investment expert who goes home for Christmas to help her mother organise a charity event in their huge stately home. Her old debate team nemesis is a chef now and gets brought in to help with the event. Can Lacey run the charity event, and fall in love, AND stave off a hostile takeover from her business partners? Hell yeah! Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe stars Lacey Chabert and Brendan Penny, was written by Nina Weinman based on a book by Melissa de la Cruz and directed by Don McBrearty.
