Republican Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski said Saturday she hopes Democratic Congresswoman Mary Peltola is reelected this November.
Murkowski also supported Peltola in her initial run for the House of Representatives. Murkowski said she likes how Peltola does her best for Alaska instead of being loyal to partisan politics. Murkowski will not endorse a president, and does not want to repeal ranked choice voting.

The Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) has endorsed Rep. Mary Peltola’s reelection during their annual convention, themed "Our Children, Our Future Ancestors." Peltola, the first Alaska Native in Congress, was praised for her advocacy on fisheries and subsistence issues. The AFN also voted to oppose Ballot Measure 2, which seeks to eliminate the ranked-choice voting system, while a resolution supporting Ballot Measure 1, regarding minimum wage and sick leave, was tabled due to concerns from village corporations.

Alaskans will soon vote on Ballot Measure 1, which seeks to raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2027 and mandate paid sick leave. Supporters say the measure would help working families and strengthen the economy, while opponents, including the Alaska CHARR, warn that it could negatively impact small businesses, particularly in the tourism and restaurant industries. Polls show growing support for the initiative as the election nears.
