This week we speak to Stephan Prufling, the Product Manager at AVL Software and Functions GmbH.

He started his education at EMZ as a technical apprentice working on old house equipment, whilst training as a Mechatronics Engineer working on both a mixture of mechatronics & electronics. Stephan stuck with education, completing a master’s driven by his love of the hands-on technical projects.

Stephans career started with AVL as he became a development engineer focused on Systems & Applications for the E-Drive department. The core responsibility was to collect requirements from a systems-level point of view.

After 3 years, Stephan moved into product management on Battery Management Systems. Whilst he is located in the Systems Engineering department, he is mainly supporting product management activities. He gets to work closely with customers, discussing project sets such as the scope of work, delivery required from AVL and understand customer expectations. Stephan is also highly involved in R&D topics and evaluating the latest technologies/trends and how this can be beneficial for AVL such as wireless BMS.

Alongsider Stephans career journey, we also talk about vehicle cyber security, the developments in vehicle Ai, and the innovations happening within the automotive industry.
