When Angels Fell in World War II
Manage episode 373048771 series 3498899
In this episode, show host and 11th Airborne Division historian Jeremy C. Holm tells the full story of the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the "Pacific Theater's Band of Brothers."
Jeremy's grandfather, 1LT Andrew Carrico, served in the 511th PIR during the war as a Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer. After a lifetime of talking about the war, Jeremy promised his grandfather that he would write their history so the world could know "what we did over there and what our buddies died for."
Utilizing interviews with the last living members of this historic unit and after hundreds of hours of researching in museum archives and pouring over reports, letters and journals, Jeremy published his widely-acclaimed book WHEN ANGELS FALL: THE 511TH PARACHUTE INFANTRY REGIMENT IN WORLD WAR II.
