You know the saying “two is company and three’s a crowd”?

Joyce Kline sure does and it’s one of the reasons she felt inspired to bring her film to life.

No stranger to the Victoria film scene, she's moonlighted in many roles including visual artist, writer, playwright, teacher and production designer. Now as a Production Designer and familiar voice behind this very podcast, we flip the script.

In her candid recap for S2E3 of Push In, we hear from Joyce as she details her experience flipping the script as Director. Set amongst a 1920's hotel room backdrop, Joyce shares how she tapped into her work as a Production Designer to handcraft the set.

Drawing upon childhood experiences that stick with you - especially if they’re out of the fringe, Joyce recounts her experience visiting a carnival as a child, the inspiration for her film, Vaudeville came alive.

Filming over 3 days, Joyce took advantage of COVID-19 closing all of the typical filming locations, connecting with the Langham Court Theatre to bring her set idea to life.
Joyce admits that she enjoyed her role as an authority figure and we, for one, can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve.
