In this podcast you’ll continue practicing sentences with some of the most common irregular verbs in the present, simple past, and present perfect tenses.
1. think thought thought

—She thinks she will start learning German next year.

—I thought she was coming over for dinner, but I forgot to invite her!

—Have you ever thought of getting a different job?

2, tell told told

—Please tell me the truth.

—He told me to go away and never come back.

—Have you ever told a lie?

3. become became become

—Do people become wiser with age?

—After years of school, he became a doctor.

—I have become older but not smarter.

4. show showed shown

—Please show me how to fold an origami crane.

—He showed us how to cook chicken stuffed with rice.

—Have you ever shown anyone your paintings?

5. leave left left

— We should leave so Andrew can get some rest.

—He left town in a hurry after robbing the bank.

—Have you ever left your dessert unfinished?

6. feel felt felt

—I don’t feel well. I hope I’m not getting Covid!

—She felt my forehead and told me I probably had a fever.

—Have you ever felt these symptoms before?

7. put put put

—I put out the trash and washed all the dishes.

—Last night I folded the laundry and put it all away.

—I don’t want to put myself forward for the supervisor position. I’m not qualified.

8. bring brought brought

—Please bring in the children. It’s starting to rain.

—He brought a bottle of wine as a dinner gift.

—Has anyone ever brought you so many flowers before?

9. begin began begun

—It’s 9 o’clock. Let’s begin our meeting.

—It began to snow and continued for two days.

—It has begun to snow. I wonder how long it will continue?

10. keep kept kept

—Please keep what I told you secret. Tell no one!

—The police kept the crowd away from the crime scene.

—What other secrets have you kept from me?
