My Most Chaotic Podcast Ever - Andrew Fagan, NZ Music Legend & Sailor-Adventurer Extraordinaire
Manage episode 432964009 series 3460510
Strap yourself in for a wild ride- my most chaotic podcast EVER!
Andrew Fagan is a kiwi musician. In the 1980’s he was the singer of one of New Zealand’s most popular bands called The Mockers.
Chances are, if you know any of their songs it’ll be Forever Tuesday Morning.
But for a 12-year-old Dom Harvey. He knew every word of every song.
Obsessed is a big word…but that was my relationship with this band called the Mockers. I was a psycho-fan…and I would be prepared fight anyone who dared to disagree they were the best band in the world.
So, to sit down for a long conversation with one of my childhood heroes was something truly special.
This is by far the most unique and bizarre podcast I’ve ever done- Andrew turned up with his own props including a flag, a stool, a bell, a water spray bottle, guitar and amp.
We talk about his life in music, including those years in The Mockers- his recollections of the infamous 1984 Queen Street Riots and the deep impact of losing a bandmate to suicide.
We also discuss in great length his love of solo voyages in the open ocean in small boats.
Then we go deep with some musings on life, aging, mental health and future goals.
Whether you're a long-time fan of The Mockers or new to wonderful world and mind of Andrew Fagan, this episode offers a glimpse into the life of a remarkable New Zealander (who I am lucky to call a mate).
