IFS (Internal family system), spirituality and grief.

In September, I traveled to Madrid to attend a retreat at a convent led by American psychotherapist Tom Holmes. I spent 3 days with Tom, and offer you here the essence of the retreat. This conversation explores how we can learn to hold space for the various psychological aspects of our inner selves. It delves into the experience of being spiritual beings in human bodies and minds, and offers insights on navigating grief, loss, and life's inevitable changes.

Tom Holmes holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology and is a Professor Emeritus at Western Michigan University (WMU). He has been training graduate students in psychotherapy since 1985 and has been teaching in WMU's Holistic Health Program since 1996. Tom trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy with Richard Schwartz in the late 1980s and has been teaching, training, and using IFS in both academic and private practice settings ever since.
