This week, Kendra is bringing you the tragic story of a Florida murder carried out by one of the most despicable organizations out there, the KKK. We go into our ugly past here in America that sadly wasn’t all too long ago.

In 1951, on Christmas Day, Harry & Hariette were ruthlessly bombed in their own home. The reason? Because Harry T. Moore had been advocating for the rights of African Americans in his home state of Florida. What was he fighting for? He simply wanted them to be treated as equal citizens in the South with voting rights and equal pay for the same work performed by White Americans. Oh yeah, and could they please stop lynching innocent black men for made-up crimes? Police brutality towards black men was so rampant in Florida at this time and many believed the KKK was actively involved with law enforcement.

Harry was a brave man who stood up for human rights and was a catalyst for the larger Civil Rights movement that would take off after his death. Let’s honor his legacy and make sure the work he did is not forgotten!
