The Novo Nordisk Foundation has awarded €84.7 million for establishing the world’s first interdisciplinary research center aimed at developing knowledge and technology that can be used to capture and recycle carbon dioxide (CO2), this center will be called “The Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center”
Jiwoong Lee, Associate professor at Department of Chemistry and “The Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center” contact at the University of Copenhagen explains: “I am very excited to join the journey together with excellent research partners at the NNF CO2 center. Our group will contribute to the new realm of the research area: CO2 capture and up-concentration using organic molecules for next 7 years”. Jiwoong Lee continues “This research program is in conjunction with our on-going projects: desalination and water purification using carbon dioxide. We will therefore provide an ideal solution for transferring molecular CO2 from ambient sources for direct conversion, reduction, bio utilization, and capture to drastically diminish CO2 emission and to reach net negative CO2 emission globally”
