Eliza Varney is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Keele University, United Kingdom. Her recent research is in disability equality, focusing on the link between contract law and human rights, and the extent to which English contract law is compatible with the values advanced by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In this talk Catalin and Eliza explore the implications of a purely contractual approach to the relationship between consumer with disabilities and financial institutions. Does this approach encourage discrimination? Should contract law be used also to promote human dignity and equality, should it also contain rules on how we treat eachother? How?
