This week, in what might be the funniest episode yet, Molly and Emese are joined by co-stars Amy Schumer and Brianne Howey. They get candid about motherhood, career evolution, and their new film, Kinda Pregnant —which unexpectedly led to Amy’s latest health discovery. Amy opens up about how public criticism led her to uncover her Cushing syndrome diagnosis, what it’s like to navigate comedy and Hollywood as a mom, and the importance of sharing birth stories without shame. Brianne shares how becoming a mother has shifted her perspective on work, how Ginny & Georgia ’s Georgia Miller compares to real-life parenting, and the power of female friendships in the industry. We also go behind the scenes of their new Netflix film, Kinda Pregnant —how Molly first got the script, why Amy and Brianne were drawn to the project, and what it means for women today. Plus, they reflect on their early career struggles, the moment they knew they “made it,” and how motherhood has reshaped their ambitions. From career highs to personal challenges, this episode is raw, funny, and packed with insights. E595: Growing a business requires countless small wins that add up to some very big victories. But there is one change that REALLY moves that needle. It doesn’t just move the needle, it crushes it. And what might that one little change be? Your price. Double it. That’s right, double your price. You see, we have a nasty habit of undervaluing our services. This is especially true for first-time SaaS entrepreneurs. Most of us are down-right SCARED to price our product. Who am I to ask for so much? And if I ask for less, I’ll get more customers! So, you end up pricing your product at $10/month. Wrong, wrong, wrong, so completely and utterly wrong. If you haven’t tested different prices yet, the odds are incredibly high that you’ve under-priced your services. This isn’t just hurting you, it’s also hurting your customers. You’re doing your customers a disservice if you don’t charge them enough. Yup, you’re hurting your customers. Why? Two reasons. 1) Reason Numero Uno With lower margins, you’ll have less cash to invest back into the business. This means a worse product, worse service, and customers that don’t receive as many benefits from you as they could. There is absolutely nothing wrong with charging more, especially if you pile that extra cash back into the business. 2) Reason Numero Dos Different prices give you different customers. In general, the lower your price, the more demanding the customer. There are people out there who genuinely want to pay you what you’re worth. They have real problems and need real solutions. You want these customers, you love these customers. And they love you. But you’ve also got a bunch of customers who will never appreciate what your product does for them. They complain, submit back-to-back support tickets all week long, and demoralize your team because they’ll never be happy. When you lower your price, you attract a LOT more of these customers. Which prevents your team from focusing on the customers that are actually a perfect fit for your business. This leaves everyone disappointed. I know it’s scary. But here’s what you get when you double your price: 1. The single biggest increase in revenue you’ll ever see from one change. Better customers. 2. More cash to invest in the business. 3. If these benefits don’t tickle your fancy, I don’t know what will. Won’t you get fewer customers? In most cases, your conversion rates won’t drop at all. And if they do, it’s by a marginal amount. The increase in revenue will more than make up for it. What if it doesn’t go well and conversions plummet? Then just reverse the change. Don’t take my word for it, though. Test the new price for a month and see how your signups and conversion rates change. It’s pretty easy to reverse the price change if things don’t turn out to be so rosy. Any customers you acquired that month would be more than happy to get moved to your old, cheaper plans. When won’t this work? If you’ve already raised your price a couple of times, you’ll want to be more careful. You’ll be much closer to your market sweet-spot and it won’t take much to push your prices too high. This also depends on your company strategy. Your long-term vision might be to provide a great SaaS product for small businesses like Constant Contact and Intuit have. In this case, another jump might price yourself out of the market. So be careful. But if you want to move up-market and go after bigger fish, raise your prices as high as you think your product can currently justify. Then raise them again when you improve your product. Race to the top my friend. It’s also not a sure-win if you have lots of experience with pricing and/or your market. You’ll get a lot closer to the ideal price on day one. Won’t people notice the new price and complain? Nope. No one will notice. As long as you grandfather all your old customers in and keep their subscription fees the same, not a single person will care. If someone does happen to notice, simply give them the lower price and call it a day. Go double your price. The potential rewards are huge and there’s very little risk. This is one of the few bets you can make that have a ton of upside with very little downside. ⭐️ Source: https://larslofgren.com/saas-growth-hacking/ 💎 Compact Keywords - Get purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Lars Lofgren and His SEO Success 00:41 The Most Reliable Growth Hack for SaaS 01:18 Doubling Your Price 02:27 Reasons to Charge More 03:50 Common Concerns 05:51 Personal Experience 07:19 Conclusion and Episode Wrap-Up The Edward Show. E589: How this consumer app used 45 accounts across TikTok and a lot of trial and error to scale to over 120 million views in only 3 months. The app is Yope, a montage app for friend groups. Whereas their competitors are only going after the English market, Yope is focusing on videos for the Spanish-language market. Out of 45 accounts, more than 50% are in Spanish. Each account posts twice a day, with over 1,500 videos posted to date. The Spanish accounts are performing incredibly well, with tt@mar_yope leading the way—averaging 110K views, with the highest reaching 5.3M. Check out this English account: tt@janin.yope. It took her 70 videos before hitting her first viral one at 1M views. Now, she has videos with 4.4M, 5.3M, and 2.5M views on top of that first one. Good things take time. Building strong accounts and fine-tuning them is key. The idea that "post every day and you’ll be rewarded" by the TikTok algorithm is definitely real. It took 45 videos for tt@yrrah.yope to get a breakthrough. Now, she has 6 videos over 1M views and 35 videos performing 10x better than the median. Formats vary from text posts, with hooks like: "Me explaining to my boyfriend how we literally have 4 DAYS to download Yope so that on January 1st we can create a secret album of us, and at the end of the year have a recap movie with all our memories." To app-style videos with hook to app demo. From talking videos to slideshows to memes, Yope is exceptionally good at building accounts. Diving deeper, it looks like they’re a Ukrainian company now operating from London. That could explain why they’re targeting EU markets—or it might just be a strategic move. There was one Polish account, and they might have more niche EU ones. They started by targeting multiple languages and successfully built viral accounts in each one. Now, they’re scaling up, with 15 new accounts launched in the past two weeks. The app was created in 2022, but they only started this multi-account UGC strategy three months ago. And now, they’re absolutely crushing it. ⭐️ Source: https://x.com/iamgdsa/status/1889326927531372626 💎 Compact Keywords - Get tons of purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction 00:34 Case Study: Yope’s Viral Success 01:11 Locket Widget Comparison 01:55 Differentiation With the Spanish Speaking Marketing 03:18 Building Viral Accounts: Strategies and Hooks 05:35 Scaling Up 05:47 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E588: Joshua Ryan Schaver (@bagelfinagles on IG) gives his funnel for doing $20,000+/month with Instagram. If you’re doing organic Instagram marketing, especially as a creator, or thinking about starting, this will be useful. This means not spending on ads, just making Reels and normal Posts. This is the 4 step funnel that Josh has developed. 1️⃣ Step 1 – Create a webpage, a blog post, etc. 2️⃣ Step 2 – Create a free product and paid products. (You don’t have to make these yourself—these could be as simple as affiliate links—but the real money is in your own branded products.) Read the comments on your posts; this will help you develop other products or services, as you’ll see below. 3️⃣ Step 3 – Start using CTAs (Calls to Action) in your posts, comments, replies, videos, etc. It’s important to drive traffic to your site, gain more followers, and grow your email list! 4️⃣ Step 4 – Use your email list to retarget your audience. Implement the best-performing CTAs in newer videos. Understand the relationship between viral traffic and regular traffic to your website. Viral traffic should be directed toward free items and then FUNNELED down to higher-ticket products. 🔖 Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/InstagramMarketing/comments/1fmura6/20000_in_30_days_ama/ ⭐️ Compact Keywords - Get tons of purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction to Joshua Ryan Shaver's Success 00:52 Josh's Instagram Marketing Strategy 02:05 Step-by-Step Guide to Monetizing Instagram 05:12 Q&A: Tips and Insights from Josh 07:45 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E586: Google is going after spammy SEO sites that make searchers scroll and scroll to find their answers. This is an effort to combat the poor user experience that’s been driving searchers away to competitors such as ChatGPT or UGC solutions. Searchers hated this too, it’s one of the most complained about things with Google Search. Spammy SEOs would maximize time on page by obscuring answers and hiding them way down on the page, below a ton of fluff. This update from Google is starting with just recipe sites, which are notorious for this bad behavior, but I expect it to roll out to other niches soon. 💎 Sources Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1ijcfpw/google_guidelines_warns_of_significant_scrolling/ Search Engine Roundtable: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-warns-of-significant-scrolling-on-recipe-blogs-38847.html Featured snippets get more clicks: https://seosherpa.com/seo-experiments/ Google to 89% market share: https://www.storyboard18.com/digital/googles-global-search-engine-share-falls-below-90-for-the-first-time-in-nearly-a-decade-53515.htm Compact Keywords - Get purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO (without many backlinks) - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction 00:15 Google's New Guidelines for Recipe Blogs 00:24 Impact Beyond Recipe Blogs 00:31 Details of the Updated Guidelines 01:00 User Experience and Scrolling Issues 01:57 Community Reactions to the Update 02:49 SEO Tactics and User Engagement 03:06 Google's Detection of User Behavior 03:36 Search Intent 03:47 Featured Snippets and User Interaction 04:50 Google's Focus on Originality 05:30 Future of SEO Practices 06:49 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E581: Over the last two years, the Google Helpful Content Update has been killing small and mid-sized blogs. Just recently, it’s gotten more serious. Even HubSpot has lost 80% of its blog traffic. But was this due to the Google Helpful Content Update or to something else? And all the data suggests there was a different root cause. It wasn’t just Google taking out the blogs with the HCU (Helpful Content Update). It was a preventative measure to stop searchers from leaving Google altogether. Black Hat SEOs exploited and ruined blogging, and searchers were getting sick and tired of it. Google did what it had to in order to survive. This podcast episode explains what the Google Helpful Content Update was trying to accomplish, who it was targeting, if there’s a way to recover, and what to do now. E574: The five silent killers of startups that founders never admit. This is an expansion of the viral short video I previously made on this. When startups die, it’s not with a bang but with a whimper. These are the five most common reasons why startups fail. 1․ The Expert's Curse ◦ Being an industry expert becomes the biggest liability. ◦ You solve yesterday's problems. ◦ You know too much to see new patterns. 2․ The 90-Day Death Clock ◦ Days 1-30, vision leads. ◦ Days 31-60, you need validation. ◦ Day 90+, still no validation? You're already dead. ◦ You don't die when money runs out, you died three months ago. 3․ Reality Distortion Debt ◦ Every assumption equals debt. ◦ Every we know better equals interest. ◦ Every delayed user test equals compound interest. ◦ Most startups are bankrupt before they're broke. 4․ The Competence Trap ◦ More competence = more procrastination. ◦ Building becomes an escape from selling. ◦ You're perfecting code instead of getting feedback. ◦ This is death by beautiful products that nobody wants. 5․ Time Perception Disorder ◦ Soon = never. ◦ Perfect timing = fear. ◦ The market is not ready = we're not ready. ◦ While you wait, the market moves on. The hard truth. Startups don't fail when you run out of money. They fail when you choose: ◦ Comfort over truth ◦ Planning over testing ◦ Knowing over learning Compact Keywords - Backlinks don’t matter - Get tons of purchase-intent traffic - Max out your TAM: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction and Episode Setup 00:39 Silent Killer #1: The Expert's Curse 02:31 Silent Killer #2: The 90-Day Death Clock 05:37 Silent Killer #3: Reality Distortion Debt 06:34 Silent Killer #4: The Competence Trap 07:23 Silent Killer #5: Time Perception Disorder 08:05 Conclusion and Podcast Information The Edward Show. The four examples are inspiring and educational. For example, repurposing work you already did into a tripwire funnel that generates over $12,500. Or an ascending price mechanism tripwire offer. E538: This is why Ryan Reynolds turns out so many billion dollar brands, going deep into the marketing that he employs when he buys stakes in companies. He is the king of billion-dollar brands. Companies he co-owns or has sold are valued at $14 Billion+. If you study Ryan and his success, you’d notice he: • Is always on the lookout for opportunities. • Actively markets the businesses himself. • Becomes the face of the brand with his goofy personality. • Creates creative ads that are one-of-a-kind. • Moves fast, follows trends. • Uses a lot of storytelling. When Ryan sees a viable opportunity, he takes it. He tasted Aviation Gin one day, fell in love with it, and decided to buy a stake in the company. But he didn’t stop there. He became the face of Aviation Gin. While many celebrities just pump money and sit back, Ryan is in the driver’s seat. He founded Maximum Effort, the marketing genius behind many effective campaigns including for the Deadpool films. Since he’s the owner, there is no red tape or lag. Ryan knows that as an actor, his strengths are in front of a camera — and he plays to his strengths. Who knows if he wrote the script himself, but boy, does he know how to pull it off. He knows how to become the brand. Even when he’s acting in an ad, he’s acting as him: goofy Ryan Reynolds. A++ for entertainment. He takes on typically boring spaces and injects his creativity. Standing over a bear trap, he expresses drily, “At Mint Mobile, we don’t hate you.” Give the man a medal! Ryan understands the power of ‘fastvertising’. Or as one commenter on YouTube calls him, “The human form of YouTube comments.” After Peloton’s disastrous The Gift That Gives Back ad, Ryan creatively reacted with an ad for Aviation Gin, titled: The Gift That Doesn’t Give Back Those who laugh are defenseless and Ryan knows this. All his ads involve comedy. He capitalizes on trends. He is part of a group of investors who shelled out $218m for a 24% stake in the Alpine Formula motor racing team. If the rising valuation of F1 teams is anything to go by, he has a winner on his hands. He’s also into tech and joined the star-studded line-up of 1Password investors. E515: Relating Daniel Kahneman's 8 questions to expose cognitive traps to digital marketing. Your brain is trying to trick you. These 8 questions will prevent you from making costly long-term mistakes. Question 1: Am I thinking fast or slow? Kahneman's not impressed by your lightning-fast decisions. Why? Because your brain has two systems: • Fast: Intuitive, emotional, unconscious • Slow: Analytical, logical, conscious Guess which one Kahneman trusts for big decisions? Think about it: You're offered a new job. Exciting, right? Fast thinking says: "Take it! More money!" Slow thinking asks: "How does this align with my long-term goals?" This question is your brake pedal in a world of snap judgments. Question 2: Am I too stressed to think clearly? Stress is kryptonite for your decision-making superpowers. This question is your stress detector. Why it matters: • Stress narrows your focus (hello, tunnel vision) • It amplifies negative emotions • It makes you more likely to take unnecessary risks So before a big decision, check your stress levels. Heart racing? Palms sweaty? Mind spinning? Pause. This question is like a mental health check for your choices. It's the difference between a panic move & a power move. Question 3: Is this a reversible decision? Kahneman wants you to know your exit strategy before you even enter. This question is your decision flexibility test. Some choices are set in stone. Others are written in pencil. Knowing which is which changes everything. Buying a house? Pretty irreversible. Trying a new hairstyle? Totally reversible. This question helps you: • Allocate the right amount of mental energy • Take calculated risks • Avoid decision paralysis It's like having a safety net for your choices. Question 4: What would you think about this if it were someone else's decision? This isn't just a thought experiment. It's a superpower. Here's why Kahneman loves this question... Our brains are wired with an "inside view" - we're too close to our own choices. But imagine your best friend facing the same dilemma. Suddenly, you're a genius of objectivity. For example: You're considering quitting your job to start a business. Risky, right? Now imagine your friend wants to do the same. You'd probably ask about their savings, market research, and backup plan. See the difference? This question turns your emotional decision into a logical analysis. It's like having a personal board of directors in your head. Question 5: What would I think about this a year from now? Kahneman knows our brains are time-traveling fools. We overvalue the present and underestimate the future. This question is your time machine. Think about it: Remember that "urgent" work crisis from last year? Yeah, neither does anyone else. But that small investment you made? It's grown into something beautiful. This question helps you see the forest, not just the trees. It's your shield against short-term thinking and knee-jerk reactions. Question 6: What would I advise a friend to do in this situation? Kahneman knows you're smarter than you think... when it comes to other people's problems. This question taps into that hidden wisdom. Why? 1. You're emotionally detached 2. You want the best for your friends 3. You see their blind spots Imagine your friend is considering a major career change. What advice would you give? Now apply that sage wisdom to yourself. Boom. You just became your own best advisor. Question 7: What's the quality of the evidence? Kahneman doesn't trust your "trustworthy" sources. He wants you to put on your detective hat and investigate. Ask yourself: 1. Where did this information come from? 2. Is it peer-reviewed or just someone's opinion? 3. Are there conflicting studies or viewpoints? For example: You read a headline: "Coffee cures cancer!" Before you start chugging espresso, dig deeper. Is it a single study or a meta-analysis? Who funded the research? What do other experts say? This question turns you from an information consumer into a critical thinker. It's your BS detector in a world of misinformation. Question 8: What are the opposing arguments? Kahneman knows your brain loves to play favorites. This question forces you to consider the other side. Why it matters: 1. It challenges your assumptions 2. It prepares you for potential pitfalls 3. It might change your mind (gasp) Try this: Before your next big decision, play devil's advocate. List all the reasons why it might be a terrible idea. You'll either strengthen your resolve or avoid a costly mistake. Win-win. Remember: Your brain is trying to trick you. These questions are your secret weapon. Use them wisely. E507: The strategy Loïc Gouzer used to sell the da Vinci painting, Salvator Mundi, to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) for $450,300,000. This is a marketing and sales strategy anybody can incorporate into their business. It’s a fun one. Loïc Gouzer sold a $450 million dollar painting of Jesus to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in 19 minutes. But the real work of art was his insane sales strategy. Here's how he pulled off the most expensive art sale in history. In 2017, Christie's exec Loïc Gouzer had a wild idea: Sell a controversial da Vinci for a record price. The art world scoffed as the painting, Salvator Mundi, was debatably a fake. But Gouzer saw opportunity where others saw risk. Gouzer's strategy? Break every auction rule. His first move was to take the painting on a world tour. Not to museums, but to billionaires' living rooms. Why? He knew the ultra-rich don't just buy art; they buy exclusivity and bragging rights. But it gets crazier. Next, he put the da Vinci in a contemporary art sale. Purists were outraged. But Gouzer knew his audience. Tech billionaires were more likely to attend a flashy contemporary auction than an old-fashioned event. The marketing was unorthodox. Christie's made a video of people crying at the painting. They called it the "male Mona Lisa." Even Leonardo DiCaprio posed with it. The hype was building. But the real genius was yet to come. Gouzer set the starting bid at $100 million. Insanely high? No, it was strategic. It shifted the conversation from "Is it authentic?" to "Is it worth $100 million?" A subtle but crucial difference in perceived value. At auction night, the tension was electric. Bidding opened at $90 million. 19 minutes later, the hammer fell. The price? A cool $450.3 million - the most expensive painting ever. The real surprise was that only two people were bidding. Gouzer orchestrated a bidding war between two billionaires, each thinking the other would stop. A masterclass in high-level FOMO (fear of missing out). The result? A sale that redefined the art market. The buyer remained a mystery for days. Then the bombshell came: it was Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). Suddenly, it wasn't just about art. It was geopolitics, power, perception. A young, ambitious leader now owned a Christian icon by a Renaissance master. It wasn't just to diversify Saudi's economy, but the ultimate status symbol. Whatever the motive, Gouzer's strategy paid off spectacularly: The techniques? Applicable to any high-ticket sale. 1. Understand buyer psychology 2. Build hype through exclusivity 3. Know your audience intimately 4. Break industry norms strategically 5. Create competition, even if artificial 6. Create an experience, not just a product 7. Anchor high to shift the value conversation Remember: In high-ticket sales, you're not just selling a product. You're selling a story, a status, a legacy. Gouzer sold a piece of history still making headlines years later. What lasting impact will your next sale have? E498: What causes and what triggers the Google Helpful Content (HCU). Here are my notes, explained in the episode: -Google Helpful Content Update uses a tag, a machine learning classifier. Very little chance of recovery or a long recovery period. -Content websites that are making money through ads and affiliate links. -It’s really many affiliate sites being hit. -Less e-commerce, less news, more content sites being hit. -Having a brand reduces chances of being hit. -Having good Domain Authority reduces chances of being hit. -Sites that are hit use lots of automation, are buying links, are using AI text, etc. -Sites that are hit are doing too much “best of” keywords and titles. Too much “top 10” “top 5” keywords and titles, as well. -Having a product to sell puts you at an advantage. -They’re targeting top and middle of funnel keywords with a different page for each granular variation. -It’s a punitive update applied to your whole site. -The content on pages is clearly written for search engines and not for humans. -The HCU was sandwiched between other updates, so attribution got messed up. -It’s not about what niche you’re in, it’s about what type of website you have. -Again, going after tiny keyword variations with a page per each. Duplicate spam AI content. -The sites are only getting their traffic from search. -The sites are automating a lot of content creation. -Mediocre to low-quality content made for search engines. It doesn’t feel like the content was written by a human. The content doesn’t feel like it’s from somebody who knows what they’re talking about. -Automated pages. -It’s best to try to build a real brand or even a personal brand with somebody behind it. -Reddit has grown so much partially because it absorbed the losses from the HCU. 00:00 Introduction to Google's Helpful Content Update 00:43 My Research Sources 01:28 Identifying Affected Sites 01:46 Common Traits of Penalized Sites 03:52 SEO Strategies to Avoid Penalties 04:56 Case Study: Analyzing a Penalized Site 07:57 Building a Brand 14:21 Takeaways 14:56 Podcast Outro The Edward Show. E492: How to repurpose podcasts into viral short form mobile videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat Spotlight, Facebook Reels, and more. The success of a short form mobile video with speaking in it only comes down to how engaging the transcript. If it’s engaging to read, it will be engaging to watch. To learn more about the specific site, I made a standalone episode, “Ranking for 223 THOUSAND Keywords With Programmatic SEO,” here: https://youtu.be/hFR1QFaOI5M But this single episode will teach a great amount on information architecture. E433: We look at the time Samsung bought out the train station in front of the new Apple Store Malaysia. Samsung used a legal loophole to do this and renamed the station, “The Samsung Galaxy Station.” They also bought out all the ad space in the station. People had to walk through nonstop ads of Samsung devices to get to the new Apple Store. Next, we look at Burger King’s viral Moldy Whopper Campaign. Burger King made videos and an image of a Whopper decomposing for 30 days and getting super moldy. Then Burger King put enough ad budget behind this to get 8.4 billion impressions on their moldy Whopper. You won’t believe what the sales outcome was. Finally, we look at a big marketing fail. Fiji Water said, “The label says Fiji because it’s not bottled in Cleveland.” Well, the city of Cleveland was offended by this so they did some tests. They found Fiji water contained 6.3 micrograms of arsenic per liter, whereas Cleveland tap water, which was also tastier and better for the environment, had no arsenic. And throughout all of these, we look at their low-cost/no-cost alternatives that any company can do. SEO. Build in Public. And benevolent social media marketing. This is a good one.
