Get out your best headphones and enjoy some comment on the pounding music of “Mad Max: Fury Road”. One of the best reviewed films of the year is also one of the best scored. Look at thematic similarities between Mad Max, Breaking Bad and Shutter Island. Feel better about your life after listening to the score of “Dead Mans Letters”. . Put your feet up and let the sounds glide all over. Play List: Shutter Island - (Assorted Track Edits) - Gyorgy Ligeti, Ex Machina - Bunsen Burner - Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow, Mad Max: Fury Road - Water, The Rig, My Name is Max, Doof Warrior- Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL , Breaking Bad (Episode Dead Freight) - Dave Porter, Music from “Letters from a Dead Man” - Click here to download episode…

I finally found this episode! Poorly named yours truly, it's been on my drive/s for 7 1/2 years. Originally broadcast in May 2007 this was an episode where we managed to look at Locke's theme in new ways (thank goodness). The shows hope and intent was always to showcase theme evolution, and by season 4 we were hearing that happen. Pop on the headphones, put your feet up and let the strings glide all over. After 4 seasons of flashbacks of Jack, Kate and Sawyer it was nice seeing the "Chopper Crew" get their day in the sun. My adoration of Rebecca Mader began with this episode too :) I look at a series of theme progressions over Seasons 2 to 4 in regards to John Locke's Theme. My "2008 LOST Theory of Time Travel" (which I now view as laughable) also gets an airing. Play List: Assorted Tracks/Artists LOST Season 3-4 - Michael Giacchino - Click here to download episode…
Lets face it, the LOST Fan base love a Hurley centric episode, and if I remember this was one of the most popular. As I mention in the episode, it's a nice one to cook a meal to! Kick back and enjoy an analysis of the LOST Season 4 Premiere Episode "The Beginning of the End". Though "Ji Yeon" itself wasn't my favorite episodes, it did present the chance to examine the use od dramatic accents in scores. So this episode looks at a series of the shows more dramtic moments, and point out just where and how the music can enhance the scene. A popular episode, especially with the Penny/Desmond "Shippers". There were a few new Themes and we dipped into a bit of David Lynch's "Dune". It's always fun to listen to any Desmond centric themes or soundbites :). I was particularly fond of this episode as it produced new themes. Some of them lasted throughout subsequent seasons. It was also a great tie in to "Tricia Tanaka is Dead". Play List: Assorted Tracks/Artists LOST Season 3 - Michael Giacchino - Gerry Goldsmith - "The Searchers" from Planet of the Apes Click here to download episode…
Comparisons to the "Expose" episode and Bernard Hermann compositions are examined. . It seems upon re listening I didn't like the Nikki/Paulo story. Play List: Assorted Tracks/Artists LOST Season 3 - Michael Giacchino -Bernard Hermann - Howard Shore - Click here to download episode
I woke up the morning I made this show at around 3.00am and basically just reminisced about the pilot. If I remember rightly the motivation was that the coming episode ("Expose") was rumored to be a "Pilot Flashback". This was my take on what we may expect. I had a couple of weeks break from the show, and then ended up doing a Mid Week show that followed the episode "D.O.C.". Music aside, this was one of my least favorite episodes of Season 3. Mainly as the Jin and Sun stories usually bored me to death. Somehow I found things of interest to talk about. By now the show was getting some traction on iTunes so it was decided a "Mid Week" show might add to the content. This was the first of such shows. I got to play around with some Brian Eno/Nikki Paulo mashups, and had a lot of positive feedback from this episode. .The Mid Week shows generally played about 2 days before an episode aired. Good with headphones and feet up ;) Play List: Assorted Tracks LOST Season 3 - Michael Giacchino - Brian Eno - A Stream with Bright Fish - Click here to download episode…
The original "Enter 77" file cannot be found so I dug out a version with a short intro. I distinctly remember this episode of LOST annoying the hell out of me. I had begun to figure out that the show was never going to answer many of the questions put forward. The John Locke character began to behave obstructively which I also found disappointing. . I did manage to get a bit of Didgeridoo in on the playlist though. Enjoy.... Play List: Assorted Tracks LOST Season 3 - Michael Giacchino - Didgeridoo - Click here to download episode…
One of my favorite episodes as far as fan response. Everyone "appeared" to get a kick out of this one. It took an age to edit, but I turned it around in about a 10 hour period. We only had approximately a day to turn a show around from the time LOST aired and the time we threw a podcast up. . The original file can't be found so I've uploaded one that has a short intro from a previous feed. It has a loud start :). I was as sick as a dog when I recorded this "What We've Learned So Far" Episode. I had the worst cold. I'd been in bed for about 3 days straight, and though I was supposed to be reviewing "The Cost of Living" I ended up doing a recap of the last 5 episodes. It was still fun to do, if I remember rightly. Play List: Assorted Tracks LOST Season 3 - Michael Giacchino Click here to download episode…
