Hey there, beachgoers! Welcome to your go-to surf zone forecast for the New York area, brought to you by the National Weather Service in New York. Today is Sunday, September 29th, 2024, and we've got some important info for you surfers out there hitting the waves in various spots along the coast.
Let's start off with Kings (Brooklyn), where we've got a high rip current risk in effect until 6 PM this evening. So, be extra cautious out there! The surf height is around 3 feet, with an east wind blowing at about 15 miles per hour. The weather is looking cloudy with a chance of rain, and the UV index is low. Don't forget, the water temperature is in the upper 60s, so be prepared for that refreshing chill.
Now, moving over to Southern Queens, the situation is quite similar – high rip current risk until 6 PM, surf around 3 feet high, and an east wind picking up to 15 to 20 miles per hour. Keep an eye out for those cloudy skies and a chance of rain!
Southern Nassau is also under a high rip current risk until 6 PM, with surf heights around 3 feet and east winds at 15 to 20 miles per hour. Looks like you might encounter some cloudy weather and possibly a bit of rain, but nothing can stop you from catching those waves!
In Southwestern Suffolk, the story continues – high rip current risk, 3-foot surf, and east winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour. Stay warm out there with the upper 60s temperatures and watch out for the chance of rain amid the cloudy skies.
Lastly, in Southeastern Suffolk, we've got that high rip current risk again until 6 PM, surf around 4 feet high, and an east wind at 15 miles per hour. It's mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, but hey, you're out there for the waves, right?
Remember, whether you're in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk, or anywhere along the coast, be aware of those rip currents and always keep safety in mind. Grab your board, keep an eye on your surroundings, and most importantly, enjoy the surf responsibly!
And that's a wrap for today's surf zone forecast. Until next time, this is your friendly ocean-loving crew signing off. Ride those waves and stay safe out there!
