Serendipity and Being Present - With Former CEO of Malala Fund, Farah Mohamed
Manage episode 283451913 series 2501608
My guest today is Farah Mohamed, a social profit entrepreneur who knows how to grab hold of a challenging current issue and ensure action and momentum, for results towards a better world - in any role she plays.
Farah is smart, funny, and a big thinker. She has already had such an inspiring career and she is just getting started. She was CEO of the Malala Fund - an organization inspired by Malala Yousafzai, who survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban for going to school, and became the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
Farah is also the Founder of G(irls)20, an organization which galvanizes the world’s greatest resource – girls and women – and cultivates a new generation of leaders through education, entrepreneurship and global experiences. We are going to talk about that and so much more.
At 15:19min Farah shares this experience "One of my most memorable moments was, we were in Iraq, sitting on this dirt floor. And Malala, and myself, the chair of the board at the time - and these amazing young women. And they were talking to us about wanting to pursue education rather then be a child bride ..... The reason I'm telling you this is that - you had to be present, right. You can't... you can't be somewhere else when somebody else is telling you something like that. Sitting and talking to those girls, I learned to be really really present."
